A shared Idea: the story of the Vale Vixens Netball Club
“The club was formed when a group of women came together with a shared idea: to create a space where everyone could feel welcome, supported and valued.
“What started as a simple idea quickly turned into a plan, and that plan became the club we have today. From the very beginning, we have aimed to bring women together through a shared love of netball, friendship and community.”
Forged with one simple mission to help players play the sport they love. What was once an idea quickly became reality: the Vale Vixens. A club with a fitting story, let's dive in.
A special place
“What makes the club so special is that it has been created from nothing and built entirely on friendship, passion and community spirit.
“We are proud to be an inclusive club where everyone is welcome, regardless of age, background or ability. Whether someone is completely new to netball or has been playing for years, we want them to feel that they belong.
“At the heart of the club are the friendships we have created and the supportive environment we continue to build together.”
A team built not on results on the court but on something bigger, something deeper. A foundation of friendship and community. That's what makes local sport so important; they provide an escape from the busy world. It’s the values beyond sport that make them vital to life.
Values and achievements
“Our club is built around inclusion, friendship, teamwork, respect and community.
“We believe that sport should be accessible to everyone and that every person who walks through our doors should feel welcomed and valued. We encourage each other, celebrate each other’s achievements and create an environment where people can grow in confidence both on and off the court”
With values like this, a strong foundation was created. It has allowed for some great achievements.
“One of our proudest achievements has been hosting our own charity netball tournament during our first year.
“Throughout that first year, we have been incredibly proud to support several different charities while bringing people together through sport. Being able to use the club as a platform to give back to the wider community has been incredibly rewarding.
“We are particularly proud that, from the very beginning, we have remained committed to being an inclusive club where everyone has a place and an opportunity to be involved.”
Hosting a tournament in the club's first year is a massive feat to achieve in such a short time. The future looks bright for this club.
Future
“Our ambition is to continue developing and growing the club while staying true to the values on which it was founded.
“We want to create a community where women can come together, feel empowered and supported, and have a positive space away from the pressures of everyday life. We believe sport can play a huge role in improving mental health and wellbeing, building confidence and creating meaningful friendships and connections.
“We want to continue bringing women together from all backgrounds, providing an environment where they can be themselves, feel valued and supported, and enjoy being part of something bigger than themselves.
“Ultimately, we hope to build a strong and lasting community that empowers women through sport, friendship and a shared sense of belonging.”
Targeting growth while keeping the spark that ignited the club, the Vixens still have plenty of story to write.
