“Rugby means a lot to me. I was brought up in a very rugby-loving family, and sport has always been a huge part of my life, especially rugby.”

Rugby is in Morgan Boobyer’s blood, an unchanging presence. A platform that has allowed him to be his best self and learn valuable lessons. He has a fantastic story.

Tondu

A vital part of Bridgend’s rugby landscape. The Waterwheels have a formidable history, with a clubhouse that has seen many internationals grace its doors. A club that has helped Boobyer sharpen his craft. It’s clear that the club means a tremendous amount to him, and Boobyer carries the club spirit wherever he goes.

“Tondu means a lot to me. I always wanted to play for Tondu when I was younger, but they didn’t have an age group for my year. I joined the club at youth level as soon as I had the chance. It’s a great club with a fantastic environment for young players to develop and build a strong foundation to progress to higher levels. The support from the crowd is incredible too. They’re like a 16th player.”

Whether it’s for Tondu or Bridgend, Boobyer attacks each game with heart. A player who loves the game. A game that has taught him a lot.

Lessons

“The biggest lesson I’ve learned throughout my career is never to give up. I’ve had a couple of injuries since becoming a senior player, but the biggest thing for me has been to keep going no matter what. Trust the process, work hard, and keep improving every day.”

The final line of that quote really stands out to me. It speaks to more than just rugby; it speaks to life. Work hard, stay consistent, and anything can happen. Boobyer will look to take that same mindset to the Brewery Field.

Bridgend Ravens

“I’m really excited to join the Ravens this season because I’m always looking to improve and push myself to the next level. I can’t wait to play alongside new teammates, build new friendships, and be part of a great group of boys.”

Boobyer made several appearances for Bridgend, including an incredible player-of-the-match performance against RGC in North Wales. He will now join the SRC club on a full-time basis, where he aims to develop further as a player.

“My ambition is to establish myself at this level and keep improving. I’ve always wanted to play for Bridgend, so I’m excited to see where we can go as a club over the coming years. I’m also looking forward to learning from the more experienced players in the squad.”

Boobyer has already shown the talent, determination and quality to make a lasting impact. With his best years still ahead of him, the future looks incredibly bright, and it will be fascinating to see how far his journey can take him.
