Bridgend College PreparE with Coleg Gwent Friendly
Bridgend College begin their Division A preparations with a friendly against Coleg Gwent as both teams build momentum for the new rugby season.

Bridgend College is entering a new era as the side moves into Division A. Looking to prove they belong at the top, it is set to be an exciting year. The college will take on Coleg Gwent in preparing for the league. It looks to be a fascinating contest. Whenever a new season gets underway, each team get ready to make an impact; both sides will look to get ready their campaigns with a victory.
Bridgend College
Last season was truly one to remember for the College earning promotion to the top division for the first time. A squad stacked with talent. They finished second in the table with 25 points, amassing five victories and a single defeat. Throughout the league fixtures, Bridgend secured some impressive victories over Neath Port Talbot College and Ysgol Dryffryn Aman. However, when the pressure was highest and the lights were brightest, they shone. In the semi-final, Bridgend secured a 46-24 win over Newport High School, then edged out Gower College in the final. After a successful season last time out, attention turns to Division A.
Coleg Gwent
Coleg Gwent finished 6th in the table with 16 points in the Welsh Schools & Colleges Conference A. The team tasted victory three times and defeat four. Coleg Gwent enjoyed a late run of victories over Cardiff & Vale College, Coleg y Cymmoedd, and Coleg Sir Gâr.
The college is entering a new chapter as Matthew Jones becomes head coach. A coach with a wealth of experience as a player and coach. He and Coleg Gwent will be hunting for a strong season.
The matchup
Two teams who will be looking to have a fantastic season. It looks like a fascinating matchup. Bridgend College’s team manager talks about the upcoming game.
“There is a really positive attitude within the Bridgend College rugby squad leading up to this game. It presents a great opportunity for some of our younger players to step up and gain valuable experience, following the excellent example set by our second-year players.
“The coaching staff have been impressed with the effort, commitment and attitude being shown by the group in training. Everyone is looking forward to seeing the players put that hard work into practice on the pitch.
“We’re also looking forward to seeing Matthew Jones represent the Gwent team and wish him all the best for the opportunity.”
Rugby is back, and as Bridgend College prepare embark on a new challenge, there is a lot of excitement. They will continue to work hard, and who knows what the season ahead holds.
