Claressa Shields Takes a Decision Victory Over Savannah Marshall in a Historic night in London

By Peter Ryan

Claressa Shields takes a unanimous decision victory over Savannah Marshall at the O2 Arena in London, in a fight for the ages.

Shields becomes the undisputed women’s middleweight champion of the world.

In a historic and unforgettable night for the sport of boxing.

The former Olympic gold medallist put in a gritty performance, where she was cut midway through the fight.

This is a potential fight of the year. With one of the best fights, you will see in the sport of boxing, men or women. It was nonstop action from the opening bell to the final bell. The two fighters fought at a furious pace for 20 straight minutes. With both fighters trying to get the upper hand over the other. The fight showed the highest level of boxing. This is because it was the best in the world at the peak of their powers. This was a highly anticipated fight, even more after the delay due to the Queen’s funeral. It is safe to stay that the fight lived up to all the hype with it being a great end to a historic night.

The fight came down to Shields’ speed versus Marshall’s Power. It wasn’t just Shield speed though it was her accuracy and precision. This was evident when the two fighters were exchanging punches. The reason for this is for every punch Marshall would throw Shields would come back with a flurry of shots. You could see this a lot in the first half of the fight, not so much towards the later stages of the bout. Marshall landed a lot of successful power punches that made Shields’ head snap back. Yet, she never landed the punch that made Shield’s legs wobble. Marshall was the fighter who was pushing forward throughout the contest. Yet, Shields handle the pressure well. The American never looked uncomfortable in the contest. Overall, both fighters put on a very gritty performance. Even though it looked like Shields was one step ahead throughout.

This was arguably the biggest win of the self-proclaimed GWOAT. The reason for saying is that not only did she become undisputed champion. Also, her only loss in boxing came from Marshall so she got to avenge that defeat.

After this fight the two are now 1-1. This leaves the door open to a trilogy fight and after the contest in the O2 I don’t think anyone would complain. If the trilogy fight happens it should be in America.
