George Russell Took His First Victory at the Brazilian Grand Prix Ahead of His Teammate Lewis Hamiliton

George Russell takes his first win in Formula One at the Brazilian Grand Prix last Sunday, which saw Mercedes get there first win of the season.

The young British driver lead a one-two finish for the Mercedes as his teammate Lewis Hamilton finish right behind in second place for the team’s first one-two since for a while.

This race was reminiscent of the 2021 season as we saw Hamilton and Max Verstappen coiled which resulted in a five second penalty for the Dutchman.

A controversial moment of the race was when Verstappen refused to let his teammate Sergio Pérez past him for sixth place

.

It was another great Brazilian Grand Prix with a lot of talking points. The main takeaway from the weekend was that Russell got his maiden win of his career. It was also Mercedes first win of the season. The team from Barckley where dominate all weekend long. This could be seen by Russell winning the sprint race and then cruising to a fantastic victory. His teammate Hamilton finished in second. It wasn't an easy race by any means for the seven-time world champion. He could of been fighting Russell for the victory. If it wasn’t for his contact with Verstappen at the start of the race.

When you look at the race from a Red Bull perspective it was a tough race. This is because the team only manged to finish in sixth and seventh place. For a team that has been so dominate in every race this season it was a massive disappointment. In the race Verstappen was asked to let Pérez through but the reigning world champion failed to do this.

The Mexican was left with a bitter taste in his mouth.

"After all I've done for him, I'm disappointed, to be honest. I have no idea, I'm really surprised."

"This shows who [ talking about Verstappen] really is."

It was special weekend for Kevin Magnussen and the Haas team. The reason why it was so special is because it was a first pole position for driver and team. Yet, he lost places in the sprint race and then in the main race he had contact Daniel Riccardo. Which resulted in him having to retire form the race.

It was a fantastic weekend of racing in Brazil. We now move to the final race of the 2022 season in Abu Dhabi to close a great year of racing.
