There was a lot of excitement when Sargeant joined Williams in the 2023 season. It is because F1 is trying to grow its presence in America. Having a driver from the country would is incredible for the sport. The young rookie hasn't been able to produce results. Most weekends, he has been one of the slowest drivers on the grid. Yet, he has had high points, like, qualifying P7 at the Las Vegas Grand Prix and scoring his first points in Austin. It has made Williams unsure whether to sign him up for 2024. The American has shown that he can achieve tremendous speed in the car. Yet, he fails to capitalise on it when it matters. Now, it still looks like he will be with the team for next year. Though there are Formula 2 drivers that could be excellent options for Williams.

The two names of the drivers from F2 are Frederik Vesti and Theo Pourchaire. They have both had impressive seasons in the category. Yet it looks like Vesti has the better chance of securing a Williams drive next year. It is because of his links with Mercedes. Speaking on Sky Sports Germany. Schumacher believes Vesti can be a real threat to Sargeant’s seat.

"In Las Vegas, I wondered why James Vowles had not yet signed Sargeant to Williams." Schumacher told Sky Germany.

"This is because Frederik Vesti is on his wish list.

They are watching him in Abu Dhabi and may view his data to decide for next year."
