The UFC put on a successful fight night in Mexico City this past weekend. It was the company's first time in Mexico for many years. There is an exciting future for the country in the UFC. They have opened the UFC Mexico Performance Institute, which means the pathway for a Mexican fighter to join the UFC will be easier. Dana White seems excited about the PI opening in Mexico.

There have been a lot of great fighters to come out of Mexico. Competitors like Alexa Grasso, Brandon Moreno, and Yair Rodriguez come from Mexico. The crowd in Mexico City on the weekend was electric and had a great atmosphere. The PI is in Mexico now. Fighters who go there will be able to develop and become their best. We will likely see a trend in Mexican fighters competing in the UFC. It is suitable for the company because it's a massive market with a rich combat sports history.

White opened the PI last week and seems excited about the situation. He spoke on it at the post-fight press conference.

"There's going to be a combine there. "We're going to decide which guys to keep to train there at the Performance Institute," White said. He said this after UFC Fight Night 237 on Saturday at Mexico City Arena. But we'll also look for people who could break into the top 10 or be world champions. We did this with the program we built before the Performance Institute here in Mexico.

Another thing that excites me about it is the work it will do in the community. It will bring kids in off the streets and give them the chance to learn how to train. They will learn jiu-jitsu, wrestling, boxing, muay Thai, nutrition, and strength and conditioning. It will do many good things for many young people in the community in Mexico City."
