The highly anticipated clash between Stipe Miocic and Jon Jones has set the UFC world abuzz with excitement. These two titans of the sport are gearing up for a battle of epic proportions later this year. Their initial showdown for the heavyweight title at Madison Square Garden last November was a moment fans eagerly awaited, only to be disappointed by Jones' injury. Despite criticism suggesting Miocic is holding up the division by not fighting for over two years, the American fighter remains resolute that he is not causing any delay.

As stated before, Miocic and Jones are among the biggest fights in UFC history. Both fighters have incredible legacies inside the UFC Octagon, and there are a ton of memorable moments between them. Miocic is a two-time heavyweight champion and is regarded by many as the best fighter the division has ever seen. He is coming off a loss to Francis Ngannou and hasn't competed since the Cameroonian fighter knocked him out. On the other hand, Jones made his long-awaited return to the UFC by finishing Cyril Gane in the first round by submission. It'll be interesting to see how the fight plays out when the two eventually meet because they have both been out of action for a while now. It has led to many people saying they are holding up the division.

It is safe to say that fans have waited a while for the fight, and many people in the division deserve a shot at the belt. For example, Tom Aspinall, the interim heavyweight champion, deserves a crack at Jones' belt. The Englishman will defend his interim strap at UFC 304 in Manchester against Curtis Blaydes. Some fans have called for Miocic to step aside and let Aspinall take on Jones, but the UFC is focused on ensuring the former champion gets the next title shot. Miocic has responded to the criticism about him holding up the division in an interview with CBS Sports.

"I get it. I'd feel the same way, but I'm not taking anything away from him (Aspinall)," Miocic said. "The UFC can do what they want. It is what it is. There's only one guy I want to fight: Jon Jones. But at the same time, the UFC can pick who they want. People don't know this, but there were a couple of other times when I was ready to fight, and they gave them another guy. What am I supposed to do? I'm not holding up any division like everyone says. I don't care. Do what you want, and stop crying. I'm not saying he's crying. I'm just saying like fans and stuff like that."

The outcome of the Miocic and Jones fight, and the potential contenders in the division, will undoubtedly keep UFC fans on the edge of their seats, eagerly anticipating the next chapter in this gripping saga.
