It was a difficult two years for Wilson at Denver. There was a lot of anticipation when the team traded for him from the Seattle Seahawks. Both parties expected playoff runs and even Super Bowl rings. Yet, they didn't make it to the postseason in their two years together. It was no surprise that the two of them parted ways. Sean Payton benched Wilson late in the 2023 season. Denver will now look to find a quarterback and build towards the future. The Broncos released a statement about the release of Wilson.

"We are moving forward. We are focusing on building the best team we can for the 2024 season and beyond. We are excited to make improvements this offseason. We will have the flexibility to better our team through the draft and free agency."
