England showcased their resilience despite falling short in a thrilling game against New Zealand this past Saturday. Steve Borthwick's players, in a promising display, nearly upset the All Blacks on their home turf. Numerous positives exist as England prepares for the second test against New Zealand next weekend. However, the news of influential player Joe Marler's injury overshadows the team's spirits.

It was always an exciting matchup between the two iconic teams. The game was back-and-forth, with each side having their moments. England would have felt confident going into the game as this is a new-look New Zealand team with a new head coach, Scott Robertson. It is safe to say that the English took the fight to the All Blacks, as there was only a point between them at the end of the 80 minutes. One of the more prominent talking points at the end of the game was the missed kicks from Marcus Smith and Damian McKenzie. These missed kicks could have changed the outcome of the game, and both teams will be looking to improve their kicking game in the second test at Eden Park next Saturday. England captain Jamie George spoke about the match with the BBC.

"We're gutted, of course, we are. Not many teams come here and do that to the All Blacks. It's a tough result to take," George expressed his disappointment to BBC Sport. "We weren't at our best, but the fundamentals of our game, what we talk about regardless of the bounce of the ball, is us being out here and showing character and we did that in spades.

"In the week, they talked about not knowing too many of our players - I think they'll know us now."

As stated before, England must compete in the second test without their iconic prop, Marler. Marler is a fantastic prop who has given a lot for the England shirt. He brings a wealth of experience, and the Harlequins player is still one of the best scrummagers in the game today. It is safe to say that he will be sorely missed in Eden Park on Saturday. Marler will be replaced by Northampton prop Emmanuel Iyogun, a promising young player known for his strength and agility in the scrum, who will join the squad tomorrow.

After a gripping first test between the two teams, the anticipation for the second test is palpable. Seeing how the teams adapt and perform in the upcoming match will be fascinating.
