The 2025 Lions tour is fast approaching, so we will start forming an idea of what Andy Farrell's team will look like. When you think of the Lions, it is the idea of all the great players around the countries coming together. Yet, people often overlook that coaches from all countries also come together. A successful coach at the moment is former Welsh international Adam Jones. Jones is in charge of the Harlequins scrum, which has recently been successful. The Welshman said he would jump at the chance to go to Australia next summer.

The Career Of Adam Jones

Jones had a great playing career. He had many memorable moments on the pitch. He amassed 95 caps for Wales and is synonymous with the number three jersey in the country. He won four Six Nations titles with his country and competed in three world cups. Jones has been among the most recognisable players on the Welsh squad for many years. Yet, the Welshman also was part of the British and Irish Lions teams for the first time in 2009 and the second in 2013. He played his club rugby for teams such as the Ospreys and Cardiff. Jones finished his playing career in Harlequins, and since retiring in 2018, he has been a coach. The former prop has made the Harlequins scrum impressive and has shown he can get the most out of a front row. He has received praise for coaching the scrum in his job. Many people wonder if he will be on the plane to Australia as part of the Lions coaching team.

Jones said he would love to go to Australia if Farrell would want him.

Jones said this in a recent interview on The Time's Ruck Podcast. He said he is eager to join the Lions coaching team. He stated, "If Faz wanted to take me, I'd bite his hand off. 100 per cent, I could do a job as a scrum coach for the Lions." This eagerness and confidence in his abilities make him a great candidate. They make him compelling for the role.

"It's a funny one with the Lions. As a scrum coach, you're not going to change a lot of technique as these are the best props from the home unions. There's only a little you can do about that. But I'd bite their hand off if that job ever came up. I've been twice as a player.

Adam Jones reflected on the scarcity of ex-Lions players coaching at scrums. He humorously remarked, "Is Ieuan Evans chairman this year? I'll give Ieuan a ring and see if he can sort me out!" This comment underscores the unique opportunity. Jones could bring it to the Lions coaching team. He would add a distinct perspective and experience.
