3 Potential Landing Spots For Alex Albon in 2025

The 2024 Formula One season is fast approaching. It looks to be a big year on the track as well as implications for the 2025 driver’s market. A driver who is on the lips of pundits to make a big move in 2025 is Alex Albon. The Thai driver had a great season with Williams last year. He showed that he has the potential to be one of the better drivers on the grid. Albon would interest many teams for hiring.

The French team has had an up-and-down time in F1 ever since they came back as the Renault works team. For 2023 they had the driver line-up of Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly. Both did a solid job scoring points, but they were inconsistent throughout the season. Gasly seem to have more speed then Ocon especially towards the latter stages of the season.  It could lead to friction between the two in 2024. Ocon looks to be under pressure. If Alpine feel like switching it up for 2025, Albon would be an excellent option for them. The 27-year-old has shown he has tremendous pace and can be a consistent points scorer. You could argue that if Alpine produce a championship winning car, they may have more upside having Albon as a driver.

In some people’s eyes Ferrari had the strongest driver line-up in 2023. The partnership of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz produced many great results. The two complement each other very well. Yet even though Sainz was the only winner besides Red Bull in 2023. Ferrari are likely to sign Leclerc to a big contract extension. It could make Sainz want to leave because he doesn’t want to be a second driver. It could leave a role in Ferrari which Albon could fill. He looks to have ability to score good points for a top team like the prancing horses. It is also important to note that he has a similar driving style to Leclerc. This means both drivers would want the car to go in the same direction.

The Sauber team has a couple of interesting years ahead of them. It is because Audi will be coming in for 2026. Albon could find the project interesting if a powerhouse like Audi is a part of it. It is very likely that Audi would like to have a completely new driver line-up. If Albon is thinking long-term then Audi could be interesting for him. When comparing the project to Williams, it will be better funded. It means Audi would likely be able to get further up the grid quicker. Now, Albon is 27 he will feel like he needs to start fighting for big points sooner rather than later.

It will be interesting what happens in the driver market for 2025. Yet, if Albon has a great season like last year, he will be a big player for top team seats.
