Dillian Whyte looks to bounce back with a win over Jermaine Franklin in London

Dillian Whyte looks to bounce back after being knocked out in the sixth round of his title challenge against Tyson Fury back in April at Wembley Stadium.

Whyte will return to the ring to take on Jermaine Franklin with the winner likely to be former champion Anthony Joshua’s next opponent.

Whyte comes into the fight with a professional record of 28-3, whereas Franklin enters undefeated with a record of 21-0 which shows that he is going to be a challenge for Whyte.

Looking at the two fighters past contests a stoppage is likely with a combined 33 knockouts between them.

Whyte returns to the ring after eights months since his loss to Fury. Whyte is in a must win situation, as a win would likely put Whyte into the title picture. As two back-to-back losses at this stage of his career could be devastating. This because he could fall into a gate keeper type role

Whyte is a tough outing for anyone in the heavyweight division. The losses that he has suffered throughout his career have been to top quality fighters. His losses have come to Fury, Joshua, and Alexander Povetkin. One thing is guaranteed when Whyte steps into the ring its going to be a great fight. His fights with Derek Chisora coming to mind.

Whyte on the fight.

“He's a good fighter, it's the perfect fight I need. It's a good fight to come back to.” Whyte when talking to Sportsmail.

When you look at Franklin, he has no notable wins in his career. Yet, he has shown what he can do with a pair of boxing gloves. This is illustrated by him having a perfect professional record. Furthermore, when it comes to the heavyweight fights everyone has got a punching chance.

Franklin on the fight when talking to Boxing Scene.

“I just need to stay calm, to stay busy.”

“From what I’ve watched, he gets aggressive at times. He’s real aggressive, tries to land hard punches. From the stuff we were seeing, we just need to stay tight, keep the punches sharp and wait for opportunities to present themselves.”

As previously stated, the winner of the fight is likely to take on Joshua. This fight will be a million-dollar bout. For Whyte it would be the second time he would step into the ring with Joshua.

Whyte on a potential Joshua fight when talking to the Telegraph.

"Joshua is an amazing fight but for me it’s about avenging the loss more than anything else man, that’s my ambition: to avenge a loss in my mind is bigger than any world title."

It’s going to be a great fight with a lot on the line for both fighters. The ring walk time will be roughly 10pm on DAZN.
