Fights to make in the 155 division in 2021

The 155-pound division in the UFC is probably one of the most stack division in the MMA world and now it is with the king of the division more than likely retiring the division has been blown wide open. In this article I will be looking at the possible matchups available for the UFC to make so let’s give Dana and Mick some help.

1.  Tony Ferguson V Daniel Hooker- This matchup is probably the best one for both fighters in my opinion. I think this because both men have come a two fight losses streak with Hooker losing to Dustin Poirier and Michael Chandler likewise Ferguson having his losses to Justin Gaethje and Charles Oliveira. All these losses show that both fights have been fighting the cream of the crop. Having said that a win will help put both men’s careers back on track. On Hooker’s it will help him break in to the top five of the division and on the side of Ferguson if he wins it re-establish him as a top contender with beating a top ten fighter.

2.  Connor McGregor V Dustin Poirier 3- This one is probably the most obvious fight that the UFC will make because when it comes to McGregor and UFC McGregor gets what he wants. It also makes a lot of sense because both fighters have on one win over each other and makes the most logical thing to do. The fight itself will also be very interesting because we can see what changes to his plan to fight Dustin for example how Connor will be able to adjust to those nasty leg kicks. Another change to game he could possibly go back to the stance he used at the start of his career instead of the flat-footed boxing stance he took in the fight. Another interesting factor to take into account is McGregor mental attitude whether he is going to have a respectful mindset or go back to his old ways.

3.  Michael Chandler V Justin Gaethje- This is probably the most exciting match up the UFC because both fighters have a lot of hype around them with Chandler’s amazing knockout over Dan Hooker and Gaethje’s run leading up to Khabib and even the fight with Khabib he really showed his mental with winning the first round against Khabib. Also, stylistic it makes for a good fight with both fighters having heavy hands and a good wrestling pedigree. Also, this fight could possibly be for the lightweight title with both fights being in the top five of the division.

4.  Islam Mackhachev V Rafael Dos Anjos- In my opinion this fight needs to happen because it was supposed to fight twice now. Also, it could be a potential fight for Mackhachev to get in to the top ten and it will help to show that Mackhachev has the making of a future champion if he is able to knock off a former champion like Dos Anjos. On the other hand, if you look at it though the point of view Dos Anjos he will get to stop a massive hype train. It will be a good fight in the octagon because both men have decent striking skills and incredible ground skills. However, they skills on the ground are different with Mackahachev being elite wrestler whereas Dos Anjos is a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu this could make for a clash of styles.

5.  Paul Felder V Beneil Dariush- These would be a great fight between two great fighters with Beneil Dariush having some good wins under his belt however never really beating any big names. I think Felder is a good fight because he has beating some big names such as Barboza, Oliveira and Vick. So, it will be great name to beat. This is the reason why these fights should happen.

The reason I have not mention Oliveira because I think he needs to wait for these fights to have a winner.
