Amanda Lemos Took One More Step Towards the Title with a Finish Over Marina Rodriguez in Las Vegas

Amanda Lemos defeats Marina Rodriguez by stoppage during the third round of the fight in Las Vegas at the UFC Apex last Saturday.

Lemos and Rodriguez were evenly match throughout the fight until referee Jason Herzog was forced to step in and the fight was stopped by way of TKO.

Both fighters went into the fight ranked in the top five with a win Lemos could be in the conversation for a title opportunity depending on the outcome of the title fight at UFC 281.

In the co-main event Neil Magny submitted Daniel Rodriguez in the third round in an entertaining clash

The two fighters were evenly match before the finish happen. Lemos and Rodriguez spent most of the round getting a feel for the fight. This was illustrated by the two fighters not pushing the pace. Yet, towards the end of the round there was a grappling exchange that ended up with Rodriguez on top. Then in the second round Lemos and Rodriguez started to push the pace with a lot more strikes being thrown throughout the round. Similarly, to the round one the fight went to the ground. However, unlike the first round Lemos was on top for the majority of the round. The Brazilian fight did a lot of work from half guard. In the third round, Lemos landed an overhand and then followed up with barrage of punches.

Looking to what’s next is Lemos, a title shot could be next against the winner of the title fight at UFC 281.

“I should be the next one in line, I’ll go back home, rest for a week go back in the gym, and just wait for the opportunity to be the next one for the title.”

In the co-main event, we had a back and forth bout. Where Rodriguez had the upper hand when it came to his striking. Then Magny was best when it came to the grappling. Rodriguez landed a punch that seemed to rock Mangy. As a result of this Magny panicked wrestler but Rodriguez stuffed the takedown. Rodriguez brought the fight up to the feet. The finish came after Magny got the fight back to the ground. Then Magny finish Rodriguez with an D’arce choke.

It was an entertaining night of fights with a lot of finishes and next up UFC 281 in New York.
