We are two months away from the new NFL season, and the excitement is starting to build. It is always interesting to see who will come out of the gate blazing. The quarterback position is always a massive talking point heading into the new year. There will be a couple of players who will need to have big seasons because of contract negotiations. Two quarterbacks, in particular, will need big years to get the largest contracts possible.

Tagovailoa is one of the better quarterbacks in the league today. The Miami Dolphins quarterback has been putting in solid performances over two seasons under Mike McDaniel. Tagovailoa made a massive step forward in production in his third year after two lacklustre years with Brian Flores. You can see the difference in the quarterback’s performance when looking at the PFF grades. His offensive grade in 2021 was 68.3, then in 2022, it went up to 81.9. 2023 was his best season with a grade of 86.9. Not only did McDaniel help, but Miami also brought in superstar wideout Tyreek Hill. Tagovailoa is a crucial part of the potent Dolphins’ offense. 2024 is a big year for the 26-year-old because he is in the middle of contract negotiations. Tagovailoa can produce results on the field, but he has also struggled with injuries throughout his career. Furthermore, you can argue that Hill is a big reason for his success. There are reports that the Dolphins will not pay top-of-the-market money for the former Alabama player. Some pressure may be on the quarterback to show he is worth all the money that Miami can give him. However, an elite quarterback is hard to come by in today’s league, which means the Dolphins won’t want to let him go.

No matter who you are, there is always going to be pressure when playing for "America’s Team." Prescott has produced solid results for the Dallas Cowboys. In the regular season, they always look impressive. However, when playoff time comes around, they always collapse. He is one of the best quarterbacks in the league, who is great in the explosive Dallas offense. Yet, it seems that he can’t get his team to make a deep playoff run. Like Tagovailoa, Prescott is going into 2024 with his contract on his mind. It’s a weird time because you could see why Dallas may think it’s time to move on. They haven’t really made an impact in the playoffs. There is no doubt that Prescott is an elite quarterback who is a proven winner. Prescott will be looking to have a great season to make himself attractive to not only the Cowboys but potential suitors for the 2025 season. Prescott has shown that he has what it takes to run a high-powered offense.

There is always a tremendous amount of pressure on high-level sportspeople. The pressure is amplified when it comes time for contract negotiations. However, both of these players are more than capable of handling the pressure. Furthermore, they are great talents, and most teams will be willing to give up a lot for their skills.
